“The Hero’s Journey is the quest
for the authentic self, for one’s own true being.”
A true adventure, facing a worthy opponent: yourself…
The ”hero” is that aspect in you that desires a full experience of life and wonders what to change and how.
The “monsters” that the “hero” has to confront are your inner demons whose comfort is troubled by this quest and who intend to maintain the status quo.
So, do you feel tired of going in circles? Then, take the plunge once and for all. And in order to ensure that you don't delude yourself, trust the timeless thread that underlies all the myths of humanity: the hero's journey, which will structure your quest for “your own true being”.
Is the Hero's journey something new?
Joseph Campbell described it in 1949.
In 1973, Paul Rebillot made it into an immersive experience with a strong transformative impact. Following this timeless process, you will discover what it tells you of your own, real quest and how you can live in sync with “your own true being.”
Tony Khabaz, a student of Rebillot's, has been facilitating the Journey (back and forth) for over fifteen years…
“We were very surprised and impressed by the profound impact this playful, unthreatening, and deceptively simple approach can have on participants. Many of them experienced the process as healing and transformative; and mental health professionals talked about deep, experiential learning and valuable theoretical insights.”
Stanislav Grof, foreword to Paul Rebillot's
The Hero's Journey: The Call to Adventure (1993)
Article — The heros's journey is not…
“Live your own myth”… “Rewrite your bio as that of a hero”… “Create your heroic future”… Even though they may be presented under the label of "the hero's journey" such promises have nothing to do with how Joseph Campbell conceived of it and what Paul Rebillot made out of it.
Such expectations are based on two major misconceptions. Two clarifications are required…
